Once a costume jewelry warehouse, GSI Studios is a state-of-the-art recording facility entirely custom designed and built from the beams up.
Along with providing commercial recording, mixing, and mastering services, the studio is home to two in-house record labels, GSI RECORDS and 29TH STREET EDITIONS.
Staff
Josh Giunta is the head engineer/producer at GSI Studios, where he has worked with: Questlove, Bilal, Dej Loaf, Joshua Redman, Cory Henry, and Gabby Bernstein, to name a few.
Under the moniker, Love Science Music, Josh collaborates with a variety of artists, singers, writers, and producers; and consistently releases new singles. LSM is also a member of the production team Stem Sounds, alongside Eric Harland (Grammy winning drummer) and James Francies (Blue Note, The Roots).
Giunta's creative ethos, work ethic, optimistic attitude and multi-dimensional way of thinking about art yield the sonic landscapes of Love Science Music. Learn more about Josh here.
Prior to joining the GSI crew, Jason was going for his master’s degree in music technology at New York University. During that time, he worked as the in-house engineer at the James L. Dolan Studio at the NYU Steinhardt School and moonlighted as an assistant engineer at Platinum Sound Recording Studios. Since graduating in 2017, Jason assumes the role of GSI’s assistant engineer, leading sessions in the studio, assisting Josh, and showing outside engineers the ins and outs of our space. Bass player Austin White was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, where he met his best friend and business partner Daniel Rovin. Austin moved to New York in 2006 and founded GSI Studios with Daniel in 2011.
Austin plays electric and upright bass, which he studied under the legendary Reggie Workman. He is active in the New York City creative music scene, where he is a member of several bands ranging in musical styles from noise to blues.
Grammy award winning drummer Eric Harland, has established himself as one of the premier jazz musicians of our time. He's collaborated with artists including John Mayer, Mariah Carey, Kevin Eubanks and Dispatch on over 300 recordings.
Eric's extensive resume includes founding his own production company, Eland Productions, and mentoring as an Artistic Director at SFJazz. He has been recognized in publications like The New York Times, The New Yorker and The Boston Globe.
Eric was born in Houston, Texas and is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music.
Originally from Swannanoa, North Carolina, Reed Turchi lived in North Mississippi, Memphis, and Nashville before moving to Brooklyn in 2022.
He has produced albums for his Devil Down Records label, served as label director for legendary Ardent Studios, and toured the US and Europe performing with his various Kudzu-Muzak ensembles.
His work has been featured by Rolling Stone, PBS, NPR, KEXP, American Songwriter, Daytrotter, and The Oxford American among others, and he has collaborated with celebrated chefs, photographers, distillers, and poets.
